Graham Austin’s reef paintings emanate from his memories of visits to,
diving under, snorkling and flying over the Great Barrier Reef off the Queensland coast
and the glittering coral reefs of Fiji.
These paintings often pose questions from inspiration.
Some may promise underwater statements with an element of literal interpretation.
Others conjur thoughts of aerial attraction, or a combination.
Currents of deepwater ocean movement are established in an emotional medium of
visualised feelings,
explained as abstracted memories, spotted [pointilliste] abstraction and hints of
mashing water in a coral garden surging with remembered fascination.
Strong design elements are complemented with the obvious aqueous colours of the
sunlit reef and opposed by the mysterious dark shadows of seemingly,
fathoms deep infinity and the joy of light hearted happiness bubbles.
